Sending Sunshine - Daring Cardmakers

Happy Friday!

Today I have decided to treat you all to some sunshine as it is wet and miserable where I am.  Pure sunshine.  The type that stays and doesn't hide behind clouds as it seems to do a great deal here at the moment........

The sunshine is of course in aid of the Daring Cardmakers new challenge which has been set by Miri.  She has asked for any form of weather to go on your card and there is a lot of inspiration from my fellow DT members HERE.

I've gone through my scraps folder and chosen blue and white papers which I then die cut with my stitched border dies and formed a scene with the stitched sun peeking out.  I thought a gap card would work well with my design.

The sentiment is a lovely one, I'm sure you'll agree, and was a freebie with one of the last issues of Quick Cards Magazine before it sadly stopped publication.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Creating Cards for Children with CrafTangles Products

Happy Wednesday!

The sun is out even though it's chilly and I've just done a quick shop.  I've got my to do list ready to go through after I've sorted this blog post.  Having a quick coffee before I begin!

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog today with a trio of cards I made with children in mind, although there is nothing stopping me from giving them to an adult! Haha!

For the first card I've created a rainbow background using a star stencil and distress inks.  I've then stamped and fussy cut the image of the girl with an umbrella and added a sentiment.

Next up, I concentrated on the background for this one by using distress inks with the stencil and a spritz of water.  Im pleased with how the waves came out.

I then framed the scene using circle nesting dies to create a frame.  I added stamped and die cut images, finishing with sequins to embellish.

Finally, a card using one of my all time favourite stamp and die sets.  I decided I wanted to make the background the focus so I used my distress inks again but I wanted the number 5 to stand out as it was for a 5 year old so inked all those in red.

I stamped the image but decide against colouring to keep the main focus on the background.  I think it works don't you?

All being well I shall be back on Friday with another blog post.

Enjoy the rest of the week,
Shabneez

Feeling Blue - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

Well, what a week it's been.  Bit of a whirlwind but at least the boys are now back at school so I can work without feeling guilty.  They happily get involved with what I'm doing but I still get those pangs of guilt.  Working from home takes juggling your home and work life to a whole new level and you'd think I'd have got used to it after all these years but it's not the case.

Yesterday, I was invited on Create & Craft yesterday as a Guest Presenter to showcase the Darice dies.  One of the samples I made just happened to fit with this week's Daring Cardmakers challenge of using blue.  How lucky was that?!  I just love it when I can use one project for two purposes!

I've used the new Darice dies that you can use to die cut, emboss and stencil.

For the white glittery butterflies I used Darice glitter paper and for the others I simply cut, embossed then coloured with my distress inks.  The 'Hello' sentiment I cut, embossed then used the die as a stencil to add the different shades.  I adore butterflies and could happily use them on all my projects but then you'd be bored of seeing them I'm sure!  The royal blue background makes the elements pop.

I hope that you'll join in with the Challenge and see all the wonderful cards that my fellow DT members have created HERE.

I'm very much looking forward to the weekend as my sister in law is visiting and we're planning on having a BBQ - making the most of the sunshine while it lasts!

Have a lovely weekend,

Animal Antics - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

I have no idea how it's Friday again.  I really do feel like there aren't enough hours in the day at the moment......we just got back from seeing my parents on Tuesday and I am now playing catching up.

Over on the Daring Cardmakers, Ruth has set her first challenge and she's asked for an animal to be used on a card in any way, shape or form.

So, can you spot my animals?  Yes, I have gone with rocking horses!  Well, it didn't say the animal had to be real did it?!!

This was one of my demo makes using the First Edition Hey Baby Decoupage pack and papers with the addition of a few gems to embellish.  I chose not to use all the layers of the decoupage to show you can be frugal, if you so choose, without losing the design or detail on a project.

These papers are a vibrant alternative to the usual pastels you see for baby cards and in fact I ended up making more non-baby cards with the pad as there are a lot of generic designs.

My demos are over for this cycle so I can concentrate on Show preparation as I'm on Create & Craft again next week with some new products.

Have a lovely weekend,
Shabneez

April Elemental Challenge - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!!!!!

A fresh off the dining table card to share for the latest April Elemental Challenge for the Daring Cardmakers.

This was actually more challenging than usual as I have limited supplies with me, being away from home.  I used what I could from my Trimcraft demo bag as I have my last demo of the current season at The Range in West Bromwich on Sunday.  I used a mixture of collections but I think I pulled it off!

This is the image which Kathy chose and you have to pick any 3 elements from it to make your card.  I chose the colours, shells and rectangles.

This is a great card to make using scraps because that's exactly what I used......

Have a great weekend!
