Monochrome Valentine's Card - Bubbly Funk DT

Happy Weekend!

I was going to post this in the morning but life got in the way, then I thought I'd post tomorrow but I'm off to Creativeworld in Germany for the day so I've decided to publish this post now as I leave at 4.30am in the morning - the sacrifices you have to make for your passion in life!

On to the task in hand, every year I have to make a number of male Valentine's cards and I spend longer thinking about them then the ones for females.  I decided to go monochrome this year and began with picking on the ceramic looking key hole.

Obviously I had to have a heart in it because what is life without hearts right?! I used a chipboard one from the box which I coloured with ink and then I printed out the wording I wanted and backed on to black glitter card.

For the background I used a favourite stamp set of mine and I added an item from a preloved Lawn Fawn stamp set together with a stamped sentiment.

Masked Magic - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

A hot off the press creation to share today.  I'd done the stamping on Wednesday but smudged the ink as I couldn't wait and as I was at work yesterday I had to start all over again this morning!

Natty has set the challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers today and she's asked for masking of some sort.

I quite like the use of a stamp and die set to mask an image.  You basically use the die cut as a mask and then lift it off and stamp the image in it's place after you've created your background.  In my case I stamped lots of 'Bams' then added some distress ink to make the superhero pop a little.

I very rarely do one layer stamping but I think with the masking of the image it doesn't look so flat.  I may do more of these as my youngest has many birthday party invites..........

Right, I had better get on as I have a number of projects to complete along with a backlog of washing.  Oh and the dishwasher is being fixed today - Hooray!!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Oh Baby! - CrafTangles DT

Happy Thursday!

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog HERE showcasing the Baby Girl Element pack which I've used together with the Baby Girl Paper Pad.

For my first card I die cut one of the elements to make a topper and drew some wavy lines in the same style as the topper.  I added some wooden hearts coloured with chalk inks and backed it on to a sheet from the Baby Girl Paper pad.

For my second creation, I used a few images backed on to a sheet from the Baby Girl pad and added a border made from a strip cut from another sheet.  I added the wooden hearts to the border.

For my final card, I used a number of elements making a 3D decoupage scene.  I thought it was an effective way of using the images, making me think of a baby's nursery.

Once again, paper from the Baby Girl pad and a wooden heart to finish.

There's a more thorough tutorial on the CrafTangles blog.

I'm hoping to see you again tomorrow!

Black, White, Pop! - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's been a great week - I'm almost on target for the week.  Hopefully the shower and dishwasher will be fixed soon.  You know, I managed years without a dishwasher and now I appreciate just how much time and effort is saved in having one.  Can you tell I hate washing up?!

Kathy has set the challenge this week for the Daring Cardmakers and it's a really good one! So you use black and white and add a pop of any other other colour.  Fun, right?!

I decided to go for a male theme on this one and make a card for my Dad whose birthday is coming up.  I used orange for my 'pop' colour.  That happened after I chose the sentiment 'Top Guy' for my card.  It's a sentiment from a set I bought in Craftwork Cards sale.  I love their sentiments - something for everyone!

I used an old paper pad from DCWV which had the diamond pattern and I die cut circles and the letters for DAD.  To embellish I used washi tape, ribbon and enamel dots.

I hope you have a good weekend whatever you're up to.  We've got another busy one - of course, it's the boys and their social life but after the Christmas holidays we've had they deserve it!

See you next week!

Hearts And Flowers - Bubbly Funk DT

Happy Thursday!

I'm up on the Bubbly Funk blog HERE with another creation from the January 'Love' Box.  This time I have decided to use the wonderful assortment of hearts in the box and use some to make a simple flower.

I've added one of the wooden heart buttons as a centre for the flower and threaded a little twine through it.

For the stem and grass I used one of my stitched dies.  As some of the hearts from the box were already glittered I added a die cut 'love' word cut from glitter card.

To complete the card I added some smooth wooden hearts which kind of blend into the cream background.

I'll be back tomorrow with my usual Friday blog post!

January Elemental - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

Where has the week gone?!  It's flown by and I haven't quite completed all that I set out to do.  Now I have a confession to make, part of that is to do with the fact that I went to see Justice League at the cinema one morning with my husband without the boys!  We even had lunch afterwards.  It did me the world of good to get out and do something fun for a change -  I highly recommend it!

So, we're in January and back to the elemental challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers.  I've gone for a clean and simple look this time.  Funnily enough the majority of the elements were left overs from the November Bubbly Funk Box which just shows how much is in those boxes......

The flower is a fabric one I found in my stash and I simply put a brad through it and backed it with a feather.  I stamped my sentiment onto a die cut circle and added the flower.  The cardstock is embossed and I added some stitched ribbon to finish.

Above you can see the elemental board which I got to choose this month.  The elements I used for my creation were the feather, colours, ribbon and flower.  There are so many elements to choose from so I'm sure you can find something to have a play with!  You can find lots more inspiration HERE.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Daisy Love - Bubbly Funk DT

Happy Wednesday!

Well, the boys are back at school.  Not sure where that holiday went - it's all bit of a blur!

I'm up on the Bubbly Funk blog with another project using the January 'Love' Box.  This time I've stepped away from the red and gone with a gold and cream colour palette.

I really like chipboard shapes as there's so much you can do to them and this box has the word 'love' in it.  Now, my acrylic paints have been put away and I was loathed to get them out so I picked up one of my ink pads in gold and used that instead!  It's given thick coating to the chipboard and has a beautiful shimmer.

Once I had my focal point sorted I searched the box and picked on a cute daisy, wooden buttons and a mini doily.  I placed the daisy on the love in place of the 'O' and added one of the wooden buttons.  The doily I used as backing.

I die cut the 'YOU' twice, using the ink on one and added another wooden button in place of the 'O' again.

You can find more details about my project on the Bubbly Funk blog HERE together with more inspirational makes from the rest of the Design Team.

See you again on Friday!

Together Forever

Happy Tuesday!

Even I can't believe that I'm blogging again so soon - a good start to the New Year I think, don't you?!  Today, I'm sharing a card made with some contents from the January Bubbly Funk 'Love' Box.

Even though I enjoy making Christmas projects it's actually refreshing to be able to step away from all things Christmas.  I tend to use hearts most of the year round and this is a great project to start the year with!

The ready painted white hearts are wooden and I've teamed them with a couple of glitter hearts.

The sentiments are backed on black card and once I decided on the design I mounted it onto kraft card before adhering it to the black card base.  I added hand drawn lines to accentuate the frame and added spotty ribbon to embellish.

You can see the contents of the box and order yours HERE.

I'm off for a lie down after 2 days of blogging.......!!!

Bearing Gifts for 2018!

Happy New Year!

To begin I must apologise for my absence from Blogland during December.  I had to take time out as I've had a loved one in hospital and visits were taking all my time.  I hope to catch up on blogs soon.

I'm up on the CrafTangles blog and throught I'd use a stamp set that works so well for winter cards even though it was intended for Christmas.  It has both sentiments and images ideal for this time of year.

Of course, my first card had to be one for the New Year!

I created the background using a CrafTangles stencil with distress inks.  I added Lawn Fawn stamps and dies cuts for the borders and sentiment.  To embellish I used glitter stars from the December Bubbly Funk Box.

I made the second card with a friend in mind whose birthday happens to be today!  Using the same stamp set I added die cuts and an embossing folder for the background.

To embellish I used glitter gems and washi tape.  You can find more details on these creations HERE.

Well, all that remains is for my to wish you all a very happy, healthy and successful New Year.  Thank you for all your support during 2017.

See you again soon,
