Welcome to My Galaxy - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's Miri's turn to host the challenge this week and she's opted for a galaxy theme - it can be a background or anything associated with another galaxy.  You can find more information and lots of wonderful inspiration from the Design Team HERE.

For my make, I reached for a very versatile set of stamps designed by Sarah Hurley.  I chose an outline stamp then had the most fun creating an alien like being.  I think I'd actually like to have a hairstyle like that!

I heat embossed the image with clear embossing powder then went over it with metallic water colour paint, I love the shimmer effect, especially on black.  This was my galaxy background, well, there may be a rainbow galaxy out there somewhere!  The sentiment from the same set was heat embossed with silver.

I've got a busy weekend ahead with the boys at a party and a post Eid lunch with more family.  I'm looking forward to it :)

Have a great weekend!

Baby Girl Makes for CrafTangles DT

Happy Tuesday!

We've had a wonderful time celebrating Eid with family.  I'm back at work, fully caffeinated, as we had a rather large detour on the way back home last night due to junction closures on the M1.  We didn't get home until the early hours of this morning but it was worth it!

Today, I'd like to share a couple of projects I made for the CrafTangles DT.

The first is a shaker easel card made using the CrafTangles Baby Girl paper pad and not a lot else!  I love cutting out of paper pads and I fussy cut the sentiment banner and the image in the shaker topper from the pad.

I made the little stoppers from another of the papers and added glossy accents to give them an enamel look and strengthen them,

For my second make I decided on a rocker card, again showcasing the papers and using them to make a scallop topper.

I added a floating sentiment backed with acetate together with paper roses, pearls and hearts to embellish.

I loved making these, just need some babies to give them to now!  There's more details of how I made these on the CrafTangles blog HERE.

I hope to see you again on Friday!

I Must Go Down To The Sea Again - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

I'm not sure where this week has gone what with working flat out and preparing for the festival of Eid which marks the end of the month of fasting.  The boys are getting so excited and I just remembered that I haven't wrapped their presents yet!

The challenge over on the Daring Cardmakers today is set by Lythan who has recently moved and misses her sea views.  I love the sea, it's so calming and relaxing.

For this Challenge, I found a lovely image from Kanban with a sentiment that worked as it has a beautiful sea view.  I used a stamp and chalk inks for the background and finished off with washi tape and some huge brads from my stash - they're great!

You can find a lot more inspiration over on the Daring Cardmakers blog HERE and I hope you'll join in with the Challange!

Enjoy your weekend,

Out of this World - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

A really quick blog post from me today.  It's been a mad week with preparations for the boys' school fete tomorrow and helping out a friend in need which has left me with very little free time.

The Challenge set this week is by Joanne who asks:

For as long as people have been communicating

it seems we've told stories of the fantastic and unexplained. Let's
see some imaginary or mythical beings this week - fairies, mermaids,
aliens, unicorns, hobbits, dragons... where will your imagination take
you?

For my super quick creation this week I used files from the Silhouette Store.  These have been designed by Sarah Hurley and go together so well.

The waves are a stencil file which I used as a backgound by taking alternate pieces out, I loved the effect it gave.  The mermaid silhouette I cut out of glitter as I wanted some bling, besides I think I've made so many male cards recently I needed to go girly!  Finally, the sentiment is a cut file but I changed it to a write file.  The sentiment is just fabulous - don't you agree?

Enjoy the summer sunshine!

Celebrating Father's Day with CrafTangles DT

Happy Tuesday!

I've got my debut post for CrafTangles over on their blog together with a tutorial.

Well, it's not long now until Father's Day and you can never have too many Father's Day cards can you?! I loved the image of the child and father on this stamp set so decided to use it in two different ways.

For the first card, I embossed and inked the stamp giving it a negative effect, using a stencil to add interest.

For the second I went for the vintage look and gave the card a distressed look.

I love how you can give the same stamp a totally different look just by altering colours and products used.

See you again on Friday!

Paper Straws - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

We took the boys with us to vote yesterday as they had already been doing some work on voting at school.  My eldest was not impressed that nobody won this morning.

Over on the Daring Cardmakers blog, Dawn has set the challenge this week to use paper straws.  We have loads of straws in the house but they're all plastic and although I can see my boys using them on their projects I thought they looked a little cheap for mine.......so I made my own!

I'm still on the Father's Day theme although a little more grown up this time.  However, I did have fun spraying the background and making my own straws!  I thought it would be a fun activity to do with the boys in the holidays.

I heat embossed the wooden frame to give it a glossy sparkly look and used foam stars and sequins to embellish.

You can see all the wonderful inspiration my fellow DT members have created HERE.  I hope you'll join in!

Angie's Digital Stamps DT - Challenge 10 (June)

Happy Monday!

The June Challenge is up on Angie's Digital Stamp Blog with the theme of Anything Goes.  As Father's Day falls in June I've used a cute digi stamp from Angie's store, as it reminded me of a Dad with his children.  I thought it would be a good card for the boys to give to their Dad even though I'm sure they'll be making their own creations at school.

I hope you'll join in with the Challenge as you can win a digi stamp of your choice from Angie's Digital Stamps Etsy Store as a prize.

See you again on Friday!

June Elemental Challenge - Daring Cardmakers DT

Happy Friday!

It's been a mad but enjoyable week with the boys on their half term break.  The weather has been glorious so we've enjoyed being outdoors and catching up with friends and family.

It's the first Friday of the month and you know what that means - an Elemental Challenge on the Daring Cardmakers blog.  I got to set this Challenge for the first time.  I used Distress Inks on water colour paper for the background and die cut the flowers and the banner from the same sheet.

In the Challenge you have to use at least 3 elements and I have chosen the wool/twine, the flower and the picture with the scenery (I loved the colours).

I hope you'll join in with the challenge HERE.

Enjoy your weekend!
